Year 8 - Chocolate truffles

9

St Heliers Year 8- Chocolate Truffles.

Last week was really awesome in the cooking class. We got what we thought was a treat of the year. We made yummy "Chocolate Truffles". They are quick and easy to make. We especially had a lot of fun bashing up the biscuits using a rolling pin. Our Chocolate Truffles were coated with coconut. An interesting ingredient we put in the Chocolate Truffles was orange juice, we only thought it was for drinking only! They had a sweet smell of chocolate and wine biscuits. We definitely are going to try and make them at home now that we have a recipe for them. Below is the recipe we used. Try them I bet you will love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yum Yum!

Ingredients125g butter, 250g packet wine biscuits, 1/4c cocoa powder, 1c icing sugar, 1/2c coconut, 3tbsp orange juice, extra coconut for rolling, (Optional: 1/4c chopped walnuts or chopped sultanas)

Method

Warm the butter until soft. Do not melt.

Break the biscuits into pieces and put them in a plastic bag.

Bang the bag with a rolling pin until all the biscuits are crumbs

Shake through sieve into a large bowl. bang the big pieces of biscuits again

Sift cocoa and icing sugar into bowl and add coconut then beat well to mix.

Add the orange juice and beat. Stir the chopped walnuts or saltana if you want them in the truffles.

With wet hands roll small spoonfuls in balls. Shake in bowl with coconut.

Refridgerate several hours until firm then pack in airtight jars. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
