Tamaki Intermediate Year 7 & 8 - Spring rolls

Since we are making food from other countries, this week we decided to make something from Asia. We were really excited and what made it fun was that we are in automn and we are making Spring rolls. Is'nt that funny? The recipe was not that easy to follow because of too many ingredients that we had to use. It was really challenging. The Spring rolls came out really well and they really tasted nice. Below is the recipe that we used.

Spring Rolls
Ingredients
½ carrot
Small wedge of cabbage
½ red or green pepper
2-3 mushrooms
50g bean sprouts
1 tablespoon oil
100g pork mince
½ teaspoon minced garlic
½ teaspoon minced ginger
1 teaspoon soya sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
Spring roll wrappers
Cold water

Method
Prepare the vegetables: grate the carrot, finely chop the cabbage, pepper and mushrooms and leave aside.
Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown the mince. Add garlic, ginger and other seasonings and sauces and cook for 5- 10minutes stirring occasionally.
Add the chopped vegetables and cook for a further 2- 3 minutes.
Lay out spring roll wrappers on a clean work surface with the point facing you. Brush the edge lightly with water.
Place 1 tablespoon of the prepared meat filling on the wrapper near the bottom corner.
Fold the sides in over the filling and roll tightly away from you.
Place on an oven tray with the corner edge underneath.
Bake on 200 degrees for 20 – 30 minutes.

Thank you for the recipe. You have done a good job simplifying the recipe so it is easy for others to follow. The photo is very tempting too.
